If you have an orangery, conservatory or bi-folding doors, you’ll know that there are many different materials to keep clean, and with all of the natural sunlight glaring in, there is no escaping the inevitable dirt and grime. Every household could do with a spruce up occasionally, and now we’re into the summer months, there is certainly something in the air that makes you want your home to look at its best. During this blog post we’re going to share a few handy tips to help you keep on top of cleaning. Our simple solutions will have your home improvements and extensions looking fresh in no time, so you can enjoy them to their maximum potential.

Painted Walls

Around this time of year, you’ll start to notice all the little imperfections that have worked their way onto your walls. However, it takes a lot more time and effort to completely repaint the room, so we’ve come up with a solution. All you need is a soft sponge and a little water mixed with dishwashing liquid (the milder the better). Gently rinse the wall with plain water afterwards and leave to dry naturally rather than scrubbing so you don’t smudge the paint.

Glass

The trick to this is elbow grease! Whether you use a window and glass solution or make your own with white wine vinegar, it’s essential you rub it in properly to avoid streak marks.

Tiles

Cleaning tiles is never a nice job, so we’ve found a way to get it done as quickly and as effectively as possible. The key is to use a neutral PH cleaner, or you can mix baking powder and water for a quicker alternative. This is what people use for grouting and it works wonders – give it a go!

Stainless Steel

Your door hardware is always going to taking its toll with people going in and out of the garden all summer long, so every once in a while, they’re going to need a quick clean up. To keep them shiny, we recommend using the light mist of an aerosol based cleaner, then wipe it clean with a lint-free or microfiber cloth. Don’t use oil-based products as they can leave marks and make things sticky.
